April 3, 2020 - The National Weather Service Hanford Office reports a Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the Sierra Nevada above 4,500 feet north of Kings Canyon from 11:00 A.M. Sunday Morning until 5:00 P.M. on Monday.
A Winter Storm Watch is also in effect South of Kings Canyon above 5,000 from 7 PM PDT Sunday evening until 5 PM PDT Monday Afternoon.
A Winter Storm Watch means heavy snow is possible over the affected areas.
One to two feet of storm total snowfall is possible above both 4,500 and 5,000 foot elevation levels with locally 3 feet of snow above 7,000 feet.
Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
Winds will gust as high as 45 mph on exposed ridgetops and near the crest.
Travel could be very to extremely difficult.
If you must travel, remember to carry tire chains, plenty of food, a good deal of water, and warm clothing in your vehicle.

Total snow accumulations of up to 6 for lower elevation communities along Highway 395, with 1 to 2 feet possible along the Sierra Crest. Amounts may approach 3 feet near Sonora Pass. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph in the lower elevations and up to 90 mph over Sierra ridges. * WHERE...Mono County. * WHEN...From Sunday morning through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult along portions of Highway 395 due to snow and gusty winds. Strong winds could cause localized tree damage.
