February 10, 2015 - The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors announced today that Steve Johnson will be the next Human Resources Director/Risk Manager.

Mr. Johnson will begin leading this critical department on March 2, 2015.

Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts from the University of the Pacific and a Master of Arts degree in Administration from the University of California – Davis. He is also a member of a number of associations and societies pertaining to personnel, labor relations, and risk management and served as President of NORCAL, a group of Northern California Human Resources leaders.

Mr. Johnson has an excellent breadth and depth of experience, having more than twenty-seven years of service with the cities of Fairfield, Vacaville, Yuba City and Dixon and the Sacramento Regional Transit District. Upon leaving the City of Dixon, the City Council passed a resolution honoring Mr. Johnson in which it was noted that “Steve worked with the City Council, City management, City staff and Labor groups during the most difficult financial period in the City’s history to help ensure a fair and equitable implementation of cost saving measures, such as early retirement incentives, that allowed the City to dramatically reduce the need for reductions in force.”

Merlin Jones, Chairperson of the Board of Supervisors, said, “We are so excited to have Steve join our team. He will be a tremendous addition to our County organization as well as to our community. His experience coupled with his demeanor leads us to believe he will be hugely successful here.”
