monarch-butterfly-usfwsThe Mariposa County Resource Conservation District (MCRCD) is aware of the declining Monarch butterfly populations and would like to help.  The Narrow Leaf Milkweed, asclepias fascicularis is a vital part of the Monarch butterflies life cycle.  By ingesting the leaves of this plant in the caterpillar stage it makes the monarch caterpillar taste acidic to predators and therefore less chosen for meals.

The MCRCD has Narrow Leaf Milkweed seeds for sale at $10 per ¼ ounce with approximately 1,000 seeds per bag.  You may purchase seeds at the MCRCD office Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at 5039 Fairgrounds Road.

Shipping the seeds to you is also an option.  Help sustain the Monarchs for the future.

The native wildflower mix seeds sold in ½ lb. bags for $20 ea. and native poppy seeds sold in ½ lb. bags for $14 ea. are nearly sold out. Be sure to get yours today!

Feel free to contact Rosalyn Allison at: mcrcd@sti.net or 209-966-3431 if you have questions.
