August 6, 2014 - A fire that began in Midpines around 2:50 P.M. Tuesday afternoon, August 5, 2014 was prevented from burning homes in the area by a quick response by Mariposa County firefighters and Cal Fire firefighters along with air support.
This fire located behind the Midpines Post Office off of Quail Lane had potential for growth because of the windy conditions in the area yesterday. After multiple drops with retardant from the airplanes the fire was confined to a few acres and full containment was announced within a few hours after the fire was first reported.
