February 26, 2015 - Mariposa County Health Officer Robert W. Ryder addressed the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 about the recent measles vaccination clinics at the schools in the county.
Dr. Ryder said he was disappointed in the results as only 14 children were vaccinated out of a hoped for 160 not fully vaccinated students in the schools out of an enrollment of 1,700 students.
Dr. Ryder said they need to do a lot more public education about the importance of being vaccinated and the lack of important side effects with the vaccine.
The Health Officer said he felt some sort of legal forcing was not the way to go.
