July 29, 2020 - On Wednesday, Jeff Aranguena, Mariposa County Unified School District Superintendent released a message to the school community on Fall reopening of schools.

July 29, 2020

Dear Mariposa School Community,

Even in this ever-changing situation, we are getting closer to the start of a brand-new school year. With that in Jeff Aranguena mariposamind, you may be seeking further information about what your child’s new school year will look like.

With many barriers still to consider, our District is very close to reaching a memorandum of understanding with our certificated labor partners, the Mariposa County Teachers Association for 2020-2021 regarding distance learning. Additionally we are continuing to plan and remain hopeful about our return to campus under both blended learning and traditional learning model soon.

We are very thankful to all involved in this process and look forward to sharing specifics soon. Our team continues to work hard preparing for all considerations.

For parents and students, below is a list of what our MCUSD school community will provide regarding the details of our reopening and Distance Learning plan, starting July 30th and continuing until August 19th, when our students start their first day of school.

  • Information related to new California Department of Education Distance Learning Standards
  • Information, direction, and a welcome message from school administration and teachers
  • Information on materials and supplies schools will provide each student (including PPE supplies)
  • Class assignments and student daily schedules
  • Wifi/Internet Connectivity assessment
  • Transportation assessment
  • Schedule of live or real time instruction (synchronous learning) and lessons students complete on their own (asynchronous learning)
  • Parent Support opportunities (resources)

Families will continue to receive detailed information primarily through email, phone calls, and social media by both their school site and our district office in the days leading to the first day of school on August 19th. To assist students, parents, and guardians, the District will provide a variety of Parent Support opportunities to cover Distance Learning platforms such as Google Classroom and modes for staff and parent communication.

We recognize that starting this school year in Distance Learning will bring challenges and opportunities. We have all been enduring this pandemic together, and together we will continue to work earnestly to support our students and their needs.

Sincerely,
Jeff Aranguena
Superintendent
Mariposa County Unified School District
