August 25, 2020 - SACRAMENTO – Senator Andreas Borgeas’ (R-Fresno) Small Business Fairness Act, also known as Senate Bill 1457, was held in the Assembly Appropriations Committee last week. The bill passed 
the Senate without a single “no” vote, passed the Assembly Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy Committee, and gained bipartisan support throughout the legislative process.
“It is disappointing that in the midst of a pandemic, politics takes precedent over people and small businesses,” said Senator Borgeas. “SB 1457 would have provided much needed relief to small businesses faced with civil penalties and fines. Unfortunately, the Democratic Supermajority decided to not move this bill forward despite it receiving overwhelming bipartisan support in both the Senate and Assembly. I am determined to re-introduce this bill and work with legislative leaders to get this important legislation passed next year.”
Senators Ling Ling Chang (R-Diamond Bar), Brian Jones (R-Santee), and Mike Morrell (R-Rancho Cucamonga) as well as Assembly Members Jay Obernolte (R-Hesperia), James Ramos (D-Highland), Steven Choi (R-Irvine), Jordan Cunningham (R-San Luis Obispo), and Sharon Quirk Silva (D-Fullerton) all coauthored SB 1457.
