OHP welcomes nominations for projects, groups, or individuals demonstrating excellence in historic preservation in California. Established in 1986, the Governor’s Historic Preservation Awards program recognizes the innovation, creativity, and dedication that are at the heart of the efforts to preserve California’s rich and textured cultural heritage.
Nominees can include resource restoration and preservation; civic efforts to preserve, interpretation and education of community history; and companies and public agencies that have exceeded expectations and contractual obligations in preserving the heritage of California. Individuals whose passion for preservation has made a difference and saved numerous cultural and historical treasures may also be nominated.
An independent jury will review the nominations and make recommendations to the Governor for approval.
