ca state parks logoThis is to announce that a book signing will take place at the CALIFORNIA STATE MINING AND MINERAL MUSEUM in Mariposa, California this weekend, Saturday, March 14th and Sunday, March 15th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. There will be a short twenty minute speech about the plight of our wonderful museums here in California and how we can save them.  Did you know that you have a museum in your own house? Find out what it is and how you can help save our history by attending this great event. After the speech there will be a Question and Answer period.

The book is called "California's Golden Museums and Historical Places". It was written by Roger Freely and Ivan Workman who are re-enactors and historians. The book is updated every three years and contains a wealth of information about the museums that are here in the state. These museums include fire, police, general history and aviation museums.

The book sells for $25.00 (tax included) However for this weekend event the book will be $20.00. The book's authors will autograph the book after the speech. This book makes a great present for anyone wishing to have friends and relatives from out of state learn about the museums here in the Golden State. Also if you have school age children this is a must have to help the kids learn about the history of the state.

Our Speaker is an author, re-enactor, and historian. He has written a book about the fantastic museums entitled "California's Golden Museums and Historical Places." The book is now in its 4th edition. He is now working on a book for all the museums of the United States and also one for the United Kingdom. He is also working on a book about how we can save our museums. It has come to his attention that several years ago California almost lost its state parks such as the Pio Pico house in Whittier, Benicia Capitol State Historic Park, and Fort Tejon State park, and the Mining & Mineral Museum, to name a few. This is dire. We are losing our history but we CAN stop it.

Mr. Freely’s talk will tell us how "We can SAVE our Museums." The speech is 20 minutes and will start at 1:30 p.m. each day, followed by a Question and answer period. Please feel free to ask him anything you would like about how we can participate in this wonderful endeavor. The museums are your museums and your history. The past is today and we can save it.

After the speech there will be a book signing, by Mr. Freely and his co-author and brother, Ivan Workman. The book will be on sale for $20.00 including tax.
