October 3, 2020 - The U.S. Forest Service reports smoke and air quality outlook for the San Joaquin-Yosemite areas, due to the Creek Fire.
Fire: Yesterday, fire activity increased in the afternoon hours and a similar pattern is expected today due to the unseasonably warm and dry weather conditions. For the latest Creek Fire fire information and details, go to: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/videos/7147/
Smoke: Smoke emissions from the Creek Fire, along with other fires in the region, are creating unhealthy air quality conditions in the San Joaquin Valley and the foothill communities of our forecast zone. These heavy smoke levels are expected to persist due the high pressure ridge over the region, which is limiting smoke dispersion. Today, southwesterly winds are expected to transport smoke over the Yosemite Park area and the Sierra Crest, affecting communities located in the north and east of the fire perimeter.
