October 6, 2020 - The U.S. Forest Service reports smoke and air quality outlook for the San Joaquin-Yosemite areas, due to the Creek Fire.

Fire: Fire activity has been increasing in the afternoon/evening on the north and east perimeters. For the latest Creek Fire fire information and details, go to: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/videos/7147/

Smoke: Heavy smoke continues to lie over the forecast area this morning with air quality in the Unhealthy to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) range. Light south to southwesterly ridgetop winds through the day should drift smoke from the Creek fire to the north and east of the perimeter, keeping smoke in the region. Some improvement can be expected late afternoon and this evening for those in Oakhurst, Mariposa and others along the San Joaquin Valley foothills due to upslope winds pushing smoke easterly. Yosemite Park may see some of this late afternoon improvement as well. Communities to the east of the fire and over the Sierra Crest, such as Lee Vining and Mammoth Lakes, will continue to see poor air quality in the Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy range.
