March 14, 2015 - The Mariposa County January 2015 unemployment rate of 10.6% is 2.7% lower than January 2014 when the rate was 13.3%. During January 2015, 790 residents were unemployed. A drop of 20.2% from January 2014 when 990 residents were unemployed. 

The Leisure and Hospitality industry with 1,490 workers during January 2015 employed 160 less workers (down 9.7%) than during December 2014 when 1,650 workers were in the industry. Compared to January 2014 the Leisure and Hospitality industry employed 20 more workers during January 2015. The Government employed 5.2% more workers during January 2015 (1,820) than in January 2014 when 1,730 people were employed in Government jobs.

Construction employment was up 25% over January 2014 with a January 2015 total of 150 jobs.

The Civilian Labor Force came in at 7,450 during January 2015. The Labor Force decreased by 10 (.1%) from January 2014 when the Labor Force was at 7,460.

There was a increase of 200 employees in the county in January 2015 over January 2014 when 6,470 residents were working in the county. That results in a year to year increase of 3.1%
