Boost is coming to Regional Area and Coulterville!

President of the John Muir Geotourism Center, Dr. Monty Thornburg, announced that the City Council of the City of Waterford passed a resolution at its meeting March 5th to form a partnership with the JMGC and other entities to advance “GEOTOURISM” for the region. 

Part of the resolution reads: “Whereas, tourism is known to be a vital source of income, especially for the jurisdictions that work cooperatively within the regional framework that connects areas of common values and sites of interest, and Whereas, the John Muir Geotourism Center is also seeking relationships with jurisdictions and institutions in the San Joaquin River Valley, as well as the Sierra … Therefore be it resolved that the City Council of Waterford endorses the efforts of the John Muir Geotourism Center to create a tourism development program for the Highway 132 … “

Dr. Thornburg has begun working with the Waterford City Manager, Mr. Tim Ogden, Mr. Robert Borchard, Municipal Planning Services and others on the development of a program to advance tourism and environmental outdoor education in alliance with the goals of the passed resolution.
