November 7, 2020 - Mariposa County Health Officer, Dr. Eric Sergienko gives an update on new COVID-19 cases in Mariposa County.
Remember to stay vigilant to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Wear your mask, watch your distance, and wash your hands. Be sure to stay home when you are sick and make smart choices about where you go when traveling outside of the community.
We know everyone is concerned about today's Case Update reported. We wanted to share some information to help clarify some questions.
What would make Mariposa County move back from the Yellow Tier to the Orange Tier?
Two weeks in a row with 7 or more cases OR a case positivity rate over 2%.
Things to remember:
- A case is assigned to it's Episode Date, not it's Reported Date. So although all cases were reported today, they all may count on different days and some may even count for last week. Learn more about this there: https://www.facebook.com/MariposaCountyPublicHealth
- If a county's metrics worsen for two consecutive weeks, it will be assigned to a more restrictive tier after an additional week of data reviews. This means we won't suddenly move back and our metrics have to meet the Orange Tier criteria two weeks in a row. This also means we would ideally have a week to prepare for changes.
