November 12, 2020 - The topic of code enforcement has taken an ugly turn in Mariposa County. The County Supervisors have been looking at strengthening code enforcement with new laws and citizens are planning a referendum to stop their actions. The codes involve building, growing marijuana, and public nuisances. The county believes it needs Dem Club logomore teeth to enforce codes and many members of the public think they are going too far and fear large fines and the ultimate ability of the county to take away private property.

County Supervisor Miles Menetrey and Mariposa Planning staff members will be present via Zoom this Saturday, November 14 at 10:00 A.M. for a brief presentation and then will take questions.

Planning Director Sarah Williams and Code Compliance Officer Corrina Miranda as well as Building Director Mike Kinslow will be available to explain and answer questions about this hot topic. Miles Menetrey was the only supervisor to vote no during the first reading of the new law at the Board of Supervisors meeting in October and can explain his perspective.

Questions will be taken via the chat feature in Zoom and presented to the panel by a moderator. The public is invited to join the Zoom meeting to observe or ask a question. Interested participants can send an email to Mariposademclub@gmail.com and receive a link to the Zoom meeting.

While this important community forum is sponsored by the Mariposa Democratic Club it is open to the entire public.
