December 5, 2020 - On Friday evening, Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno) in response to the California Department of Health (CDPH) announcing the San Joaquin Valley Region has fell below the 15% andreas borgeas california state senatoravailable ICU capacity, said under Gavin Newsom’s new order, this means the regions will begin a three-week shelter-in-place within 24 hours.

If the San Joaquin Valley Region remains under 15% on Saturday the counties will have 24 hours to implement the Stay at Home Order.

Impacted counties in the San Joaquin Valley Region: Calaveras, Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, San Benito, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tulare, Tuolumne.

Per CDPH on Friday:

New Regional Stay Home Order

To preserve California's health care system, the state announced a new Regional Stay Home Order that goes into effect if intensive care unit (ICU) capacity drops below 15% in any one of five regions across the state.

Today's data is for informational purposes only as the order does not take effect until December 5, 2020 at 12:59 p.m. 

Thereafter, if a region falls below the 15 percent ICU threshold, it will have 24 hours to implement the Stay at Home Order.

Current available ICU capacity by region:

  • Bay Area: 21.2%
  • Greater Sacramento Region: 21.4%
  • Northern California: 20.9%
  • San Joaquin Valley: 14.1%
  • Southern California: 13.1%

    The five regions are:

    • Northern California: Del Norte, Glenn, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Mendocino, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity
    • Bay Area: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma
    • Greater Sacramento: Alpine, Amador, Butte, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo, Yuba
    • San Joaquin Valley: Calaveras, Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, San Benito, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tulare, Tuolumne
    • Southern California: Imperial, Inyo, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura
