December 25, 2020 - On Wednesday, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) applauded the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) actions setting a new U.S. royalty rate for soda ash of 2% for 10 years.
“For years, unnecessarily high royalty rates for non-energy solid minerals in the United States have made it difficult for domestic producers to compete in the market. With today’s announcement by BLM, our constituents will be protected from unfair advantages by foreign companies that are often state-subsidized, improving our standing in the minerals development industry.
“The global market is ever-changing, and the decreased rate will help to stimulate local economies across the country. We applaud President Trump and Interior Secretary Bernhardt for taking this critical and important step to make America more competitive in the soda ash industry.”
