January 26, 2021 - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Mariposa County, in effect from 10:00 P.M. tonight (1/26) Tuesday, January 26 to (1/29) Friday, January 29 at 4:00 A.M.

Total snow accumulation of 6 to 10 feet (yes feet) expected above 4,000 feet
Total snow accumulation of 5 to 10 inches expected from 2,000 feet to 4,000 feet
Winds gusting as high as 55 mph throughout Mariposa County including the areas affected by the previous Mono Winds.

Periods of moderate to heavy rains expected in lower elevations; localized creek flooding are possible.

Some areas could see 6-8 inches of rain possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
The hazardous conditions will impact travel across mountainous areas. Strong winds may cause power poles, trees, and limbs to blow down. Visibilities may be reduced in heavy snowfall and blowing snow.

Whiteout conditions are possible at times. Please drive slowly and watch for debris, ice and flooded areas. Do not cross flooded roadways, turn around and find alternate routes. check road conditions before you leave the house.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Prepare for possible power outages.
