February 7, 2021 - Hughson - Investigators with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department are currently investigating a fatal stabbing which took place in Hughson Saturday evening. Patrol officers stanislaus county sheriffs office logowith the Hughson Police Services were first to respond to a residence for an assault and battery in the 2000 block of Charles St at 6:09 p.m. on Saturday, February 6th.

Upon their initial arrival, Hughson Police Services located a male victim in need of emergency medical aid. Bystanders were nearby trying to provide care and assistance as well. Paramedics quickly responded and transported the victim to the hospital, but he unfortunately succumbed to those injuries while in the ambulance.

HPS immediately requested the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Persons detectives, as well as crime scene analysis units, to assume control of the investigation.

The victim was later identified as 42-year-old Hughson resident Jesus Duarte.

Our detectives are diligently working to identify the responsible party or parties. They are following all investigative leads, processing evidence, and attempting to locate witnesses or others who can shed light into the circumstances surrounding Duarte’s death.
