March 22, 2021 - The National Weather Service Hanford Office reports Northeast wind gusts near 60 mph are possible in the Mariposa, Madera, and Fresno County portions of the Sierra Nevada above 7,000 feet Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night.
Damaging wind gusts may blow down trees and power lines.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Hanford CA 448 AM PDT Mon Mar 22 2021 .SYNOPSIS...Seasonal temperatures are expected for Monday. A trough moving through the Great Basin will increase the chance of light precipitation across the mountains Monday night into Tuesday. Gusty winds will impact the Kern county mountains and desert Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning. Offshore flow then develops on Tuesday into Wednesday, with strong northeasterly winds possible in the Sierra mountains and foothills. && .DISCUSSION... Some low clouds are noted along the foothills of the Tulare and Tehachapi foothills due to north upslope flow. Otherwise mainly clear skies across the remainder of central CA interior. Some high clouds moving over the north San Joaquin valley ahead of the next weather system moving over north CA at the moment. High clouds will be on the increase as the system moves south today with high temperatures expected near seasonal levels. Increasing gradients and stronger NW flow aloft will provide strong gusty winds over the Kern county mountains and desert late this afternoon into Tuesday morning. Showers are expected tonight and Tuesday mainly over the mountains. Precipitation is expected to be light. The latest operational models shows the higher amounts towards the Tehachapi mountains starting late tonight into Tuesday morning. Snow level is expected to start out around 6kt and lower towards 5kft by Tuesday morning. Snow amounts should be less than an inch and above pass level in the Tehachapi mountains and Tejon Pass. Otherwise the system will provide breezy north winds across much of the district on Tuesday. Another disturbance will quickly follow moving south through the Great Basin. Gradient will turn to offshore bringing weak to moderate Mono winds across the sierra Tuesday night and Santa Ana wind conditions through Wednesday. Another dry weather system follows taking a similar trajectory Wednesday night and Thursday. This system will bring another period of breezy to windy conditions while maintaining temperatures near seasonal through the end of the week. A ridge over the east Pacific builds inland over the west bring warming trend for next weekend.Source: NWS
