Back in October, students in Brandon Kanarowski's Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten students at Sierra Foothill Charter School decided they wanted to collect pennies and other coins to raise money for gift baskets for people who adopt pets from the SPCA. They thought this was a good way to show support and gratitude to the special people who are willing to give a dog or cat from the SPCA a loving new home. Recently, with the money collected, students purchased items they thought a new pet would love, like toys and pet treats. Then, Mrs. Kanarowski and a few students delivered the baskets to the SPCA. SPCA staff was thrilled with this wonderful project! As a Service Learning project, students in Mrs. Kanarowski's TK/K class collected pennies and other coins for months in order to buy toys for cats and dogs adopted by the SPCA. Here is Mrs. Kanarowski (sitting, center) with Autumn Blagg, Chloe-Jean Blagg, Tennessee Blagg, Annalee Blagg, and a few SPCA animal friends. Standing behind are SPCA representatives Jeanette Lozano and Derek Strock. The gift baskets are in the front of the photo.
