April 12, 2021 - Sacramento – Following media reports alleging Windsor Mayor Dominic Foppoli sexually assaulted numerous women before and after becoming an elected official, the League of California Cities Executive Committee, with the support of 
the Cal Cities Mayors and Council Members Department leadership, voted unanimously to remove Foppoli effective immediately from his position as second vice president for the Cal Cities Mayors and Council Members Department, and issued the following statement:
“We are sickened and deeply disturbed by the shocking allegations of sexual assault reported by the San Francisco Chronicle and in other reports. Sexual harassment and violence are pervasive problems with devastating impacts, and we applaud the individuals for their courage in coming forward.
“While investigations into the allegations have just begun, given the nature and seriousness of the accounts, we felt we had no other choice but to remove Mayor Foppoli from his Cal Cities’ position.
“As elected representatives of our communities, as well as leaders within Cal Cities, we are servants to not only the public but also to the city leaders who are our members. It is critical that we have the trust of all those we serve as we make decisions on their behalf. Any betrayal or appearance of betrayal of that trust must be taken very seriously.
“The behavior described in the allegations has no place in the Cal Cities organization, and while the allegations are under investigation, we must lead by example, and therefore have removed the mayor from his Cal Cities’ position for the good of the organization and all those we serve and represent.”
