Chivonne Wilde's seventh and eighth grade students at Sierra Foothill Charter School enjoyed a very informative campus tour of Merced College at the end of March.
SFCS-MC-0The day began with a tour of the campus and explanation of the two year programs, most designed to make students ready to transfer to other schools to complete four year degrees, some complete in themselves.

Students were especially impressed with all they saw at the Allied Health Center and with their tour of the theater and through the Theater Arts classrooms.

SFCS-MC-2Merced College was putting on "The Taming of the Shrew" last week. Kristine Doiel, who teaches Costume Design, led students through a tour in back and in front of the stage, through classrooms underneath the theater, and gave students a lot of information about all the offerings available through Merced College's Theater Arts department.

Later in the day, Jim Anderson, Dean of Career Tech Education, led students through a fantastic tour of all the classrooms (indoor and out) that are part of CTE, with explanations of the many offerings available. The students especially enjoyed the Horticulture area, Welding, and the Networking and Automation classrooms.

The field trip inspired students to start thinking about possibilities they might not have even known about that they might someday be interested in pursuing.
