The Mountain Crisis Staff accepts a donation from Soroptimist International of Mariposa (left to right, Soroptimist Oralee Phillips, Community Resource Specialist at the Safe House Barbara Johnson, Program Director for Mountain Crisis Kristen Fiester, and Soroptimist Debbie Lester).
Soroptimist International of Mariposa recently made a $1000 donation which will benefit Mountain Crisis. The funds will be used for new flooring and painting in the 10-year-old Mountain Crisis Safe House for domestic violence victims.
Soroptimist is an international volunteer organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world. In addition to participating in international projects, the Mariposa Club achieves this mission locally by giving scholarships to graduating seniors, presenting monetary awards to women that are the heads of their households seeking further education, sponsoring The Elegant Dress Closet, and donating funds to organizations such as Manna House, a non-profit organization that provides emergency food to all in need.
