Northside-Pet-ConnectionOur good news is that we now are able to offer 30 vouchers each month for individuals to have their dog or cat spayed or neutered. The voucher entitles you to spay/neuter services at a greatly reduced cost. In some cases, depending on which veterinarian you choose, there is almost no cost at all for the procedure. We are able to offer this level of financial support thanks to the generosity of people in the area who care about the welfare of our pets and who want to reduce the number of unwanted puppies and kittens. You will recall that the NPC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization under state and federal laws, and that all contributions to the organization are tax-deductible according to law.

As you are probably aware, our area of service includes the 5 communities of Coulterville, Greeley Hill, Groveland, Big Oak Flat, and Lake Don Pedro. NPC Board Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month, at 5:00 p.m., in the Coulterville Community Hall, located on the corner of Broadway and Cemetery. Why not consider attending our next meeting, on Monday, May 4? This would give you an opportunity to see how we make decisions, especially regarding the expenditure of funds. Indeed, you might have a view about how we can fulfill our by-law’s provision that we “labor in the education of a public sentiment of humanity and gentleness toward domestic and other animals”. We would welcome your participation. Meetings always adjourn promptly at 6:00 p.m.

Although we would love to expand participation in our Board meetings, as well as increase NPC’s membership base, we have another need, which is urgent. Our excellent Treasurer, Carmel Peterson, plans to retire at the end of her current term, in September, so we are recruiting an individual to replace her. You would have plenty of support in getting started in this office, and you would have the opportunity to work with other people who care deeply about animal welfare, but you would also be working purely as a volunteer! We have no paid staff.

If you have questions about the Treasurer position, or any other aspect of NPC, please feel free to call Carmel at: (209) 878-3134.
