May 19, 2021 - Get ready for a fun time of outdoor entertainment on a beautiful spring afternoon at the Mariposa County Art Park located at 4999 Highway 140, 5 22 21 story slamMariposa, California.  On Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. the Mariposa Story Slam is returning after a year’s absence due to Covid-19.  From 3:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M., local group the 'Blue Skies Trio' will perform Cool Jazz and modern standards, followed by tales presented by storytellers from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. reflecting the theme, 'Stranger than Fiction.'

If you have a compelling, true story you are willing to share, call (209) 742-5355 or visit https://www.facebook.com/storytellingmariposa to register or to obtain more information.   Storytellers may also register to tell a story immediately prior to the Story Slam at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, May 22 at the Mariposa County Art Park.  Persons delivering a story must be at least 15 years old.  The story needs to be “G” rated; it cannot be read but instead must be either memorized or presented extemporaneously, and no props or costumes may be used.

So, grab a blanket or lawn chair and get ready to sit on the grassy slopes of the Mariposa Art Park to experience an afternoon of listening pleasure.  Three esteemed judges will evaluate stories for content and presentation; they will award cash prizes to the top 3 tellers.

This event will be in compliance with current Covid-19 protocols in place on May 22, as directed by the Mariposa County Public Health Department in conjunction with the State of California Department of Public Health.

This is a free event, but donations will be gladly accepted to help cover expenses.
