May 22, 2021 - The Fresno County Sheriff's Office reports narcotics detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office uprooted a gigantic illegal marijuana grow on Friday.
It included more than 50,000 plants on a piece of property near S. San Diego and W. Lincoln Avenues, southwest of Mendota.
Detectives consider this operation to be most sophisticated they've ever seen and it is funded by a drug cartel.
They also seized two firearms at this location.
For those wondering why our office continues to go after marijuana gardens, it's simple, this is illegal (more than six plants), it is unregulated (which is against California law) and it funds violent organizations.
Most who operate legal marijuana businesses in California support our efforts to disrupt the black market.
