June 4, 2021 - New details have been announced regarding the 1st Annual Mariposa Butterfly Festival Classic Car and Truck show being held at the Festival on Saturday, July 3, 2021 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 P.M. Rotarian and Lions Club member, Eric Weihe will be overseeing the project. Individuals and members of car clubs from all over area are being invited to participate. “We will take over the front lawn by the California Mineral and Mining Museum at the Mariposa Fairgrounds. This will offer The Festival guests another event to enjoy on Saturday,” says Eric. “Because we will be in the mist of the Mariposa Butterfly Festival, we are aiming to make this car show a little different from the others beginning with the car owners participating in the Butterfly Festival Parade through Downtown at 9:15 A.M. in the morning and continuing onto the Fairgrounds for the competition.
A couple of new categories have been added for the car owners to compete on.
- Best in show.
- “My daddy would be proud.”
- Babe Magnet.
- “My wife just doesn’t understand me.”
Judging duties for the Classic Car and Truck Show will go to two well-known gentlemen. Tom Armstrong, a classic car collector himself with over 30-40 cars in his collection from old to a new 2021 Corvette and Phil Terry, a car mechanic who has assisted in restoring many classic cars in this area.
Classic car shirts made here in Mariposa along with items donated by Happy Burger and O’Reilly Auto Parts are just some of the prizes that will be awarded at the Classic Car and Truck Show. Raffle prizes will also be awarded. More information will be announced in the coming weeks.
