June 17, 2021 - In the midst of a global pandemic and world of unknowns, the one constant has been the exceptional care Valley Children’s provides to patients and USNWR Web 7specialties.1families, and Valley Children’s is honored to again be recognized as one of the best children’s hospitals in the country.

U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in hospital rankings and consumer advice, released its “2021-2022 Best Children’s Hospitals” list on Wednesday, ranking Valley Children’s in the following pediatric specialties:

“Our minimum expectation is excellence in patient care, excellence in patient outcomes and excellence in patient safety no matter what’s happening, pandemic or not,” says Valley Children’s President and CEO Todd Suntrapak. “There has been no greater set of difficulties presented to our country and to our healthcare infrastructure than what we’re experiencing now. Yet our pediatric specialists and our staff continue to answer every challenge, never taking their eye off the ball of easing the pain and suffering of children and fighting for their futures. That’s what we’re here to do.”

The annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings and ratings, now in their 15th year, are designed to assist patients, their families and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions.

“When choosing a hospital for a sick child, many parents want specialized expertise, convenience and caring medical professionals,” says Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “The Best Children's Hospitals rankings have always highlighted hospitals that excel in specialized care. As the pandemic continues to affect travel, finding high-quality care close to home has never been more important.”

U.S. News introduced the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings in 2007 to help families of children with rare or life-threatening illnesses find the best medical care available. The rankings are the most comprehensive source of quality-related information on U.S. pediatric hospitals. The Best Children's Hospitals methodology factors objective measures such as patient outcomes, including mortality and infection rates, as well as available clinical resources and compliance with best practices.

“These rankings are an indication of the truly special things we do day in and day out here,” says Dr. David Christensen, Valley Children’s senior vice president of medical affairs and chief physician executive. “Despite all of the challenges our teams faced not only here, but also at home, they came to work, they focused on caring for kids and we’ve been able to not only maintain our quality standards, but improved on them. Our children deserve nothing less than the best. And that’s the promise we make to them every single day.”
