June 27, 2021 - WASHINGTON - San Joaquin Valley airports will benefit from nearly $8 billion dollars in relief from a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant funded by the American jim costa congressman california 16th districtRescue Plan. Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16) voted for the American Rescue Plan, which helps American families and critical industries hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic recover.

“While America continues to rebound from the effects of COVID-19, many industries are playing catch up and facing economic uncertainty, including our local airports,” said Rep. Costa. “This funding provided a lifeline to our airports, which are still suffering from the unprecedented decline in operations the last year. I am working every day to ensure we have the resources needed for a strong economic recovery in the Valley.”

The aviation grants are intended to help airports across the country prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus impacts, including support for continuing operations. The FAA intends to implement this program quickly to support the economic recovery of the national airport system.

Thirteen Valley airports will receive more than $10 million dollars in funding, including:

  • Fresno Yosemite International: $9.7 million
  • Chandler Airport, Fresno: $59,000
  • Madera Municipal Airport: $59,000
  • Visalia Municipal Airport: $59,000
  • Castle Airport, Atwater: $32,000
  • Hanford Municipal Airport: $32,000
  • Los Banos Municipal Airport; $32,000
