July 3, 2021 - As of Friday evening: 400 Acres with 85% Containment.
The Blue Fire reported around 4:25 this 6/29/2021, with USFS and CAL FIRE assisting in response. Fire fighters will continue working toward full containment with hand crews to secure those remaining perimeter edges, strengthening as they push to gain more ground on the fire. Where the line has been holding the longest crew will monitor those areas to ensure there is no rekindle or escape possible.
Today, crews were able to increase containment on the Blue Fire to 85%, while adding more line and continuing to mop up in areas where burning material has potential to cross the line. Light to moderate smoke is emanating from the interior with some impacts to the local area. For information on smoke mitigation please go to www.airnow.gov.
Updates will continue as more information is obtained. This is a full suppression response by USFS.

Planned Actions |
Today crews are optimistic in their efforts to gain ground and more containment on the Blue Fire. Actions planned are to continue to build handline and dozer line supported by helicopter water drops. Strengthen and maintain containment where fire activity is threatening to escape containment lines. Go direct in attack on areas where line is needing attention, and begin mop up operations. |
Projected Incident Activity |
Continue to build, strengthen and secure handline mop-up where appropriate. |
Remarks |
General situation awareness: The fire is burning in a area where it is critically dry with receptive fuel (vegetation) beds, this is in an active area for fire history and drought stressed trees. |
Current Weather
Weather Concerns |
Weather over the fire are will be mostly clear during the day with high temperatures in between 82-87 degrees, Min. humidity levels 27-32 percent, winds 5-6 MPH westerly over the surrounding ridge. Concern: Another round of convection is possible this afternoon over the fire area as instability remains in place with the potential for erratic thunderstorm outflow winds, this instability will drop with the the setting sun. Friday we will see less convection as the upper level flow shifts to the southwest. Winds will be light and terrain driven, except for the chance of thunderstorm outflow winds. |
