July 4, 2021 - CLOVIS, CA. - During routine bridge inspections, the Sierra National Forest (SNF) bridge inspection team lead found that some deck components of the China Well Bridge were severely damaged. Out of concern for public safety the bridge was closed to all traffic so until the deck could be repaired.
The repair work has been completed with great support from our volunteer partners “The Stewards of the Sierra” working along the Bass Lake Ranger District (BLRD) trails crew and the SNF roads crew. This project was completed on time and the bridge is now available for visitor use.
