August 3, 2021 - SONORA, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation announced that a day-use fee of $8 per vehicle will be charged at Natural Bridges Trailhead, located at New Melones Lake off Parrotts Ferry Road, is in effect. Fees collected will enhance area security, staffing, and facility improvements.

The area features a moderately strenuous, .7-mile trail leading to a unique series of limestone caverns (natural bridges) carved out by Coyote Creek, which feeds into New Melones Lake. This area also includes a parking lot and picnic tables along the trail and near the natural bridges.

Some federal and local passes can be used at Natural Bridges; local and federal passes can be purchased at the New Melones Lake Visitor Center. Some federal passes can also be purchased online; information is available at: https://www.doi.gov/tourists/get-a-pass.

Natural Bridges is open from dusk to dawn. Reclamation has improved public safety and natural resource protection due to its popularity. In coordination with Calaveras County, parking on Parrotts Ferry Road is no longer available to reduce congestion and improve public safety. Limited parking is available near the trailhead.

The New Melones Lake Administration Office, Visitor Center, and Museum are located at 6850 Studhorse Flat Road in Sonora. The Visitor Center is open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the office and museum remain closed due to Covid-19.
