Playwriting Classes Begin May 21st
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Oakhurst Library Community Room
Beginning on Thursday, May 21st, playwright and author Carol Wolf will be teaching a four-week class on playwriting at the Oakhurst Library. Carol has written plays that have been produced on both U.S. coasts and five continents. She has won awards in London, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Carol’s class is designed for teens and adults. She will teach the craft and art of writing successful plays.
The first class meeting will give her students everything they need to know to write a three-page play. This includes how to write excellent dialogue and build dramatic tension. And, most importantly, how to grab an audience’s attention from the very first moment.
The remaining classes (5/28, 6/4 and 6/11) will include topics such as set-ups, payoffs, plot points, comedies and dramas. She will lead her students through the process of character development and adding plot layers. Throughout these classes, each student will write several short plays. Each week will include critique from other class members and from Carol.
The first class on May 21st is free. Donations will be accepted for the remaining three classes.
All four classes will be held in the Community Room at the Oakhurst Library on Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm. If you have any questions about this special presentation, please call the Library at: 559-683-4838 or visit: oakhurstfobl.com.
