August 11, 2021 - Covid is still keeping many people from meeting in person, but that doesn’t stop the local Democratic Club from having guest speakers. Hal Nolen will speak at their meeting on Saturday, Hal NolenAugust 14 at 10:00 A.M.

Members of the public are invited to join the Zoom meeting for free. To get the link, just send an email to mariposademclub@gmail.com.

Hal Nolen is the Program Director at Connections Emergency Shelter of Mariposa County, a program of the nonprofit organization, The Alliance for Community Transformations. Nolen has over 20 years of experience in the service sector working and volunteering in various interests such as being a Deputy Sheriff in Merced and Mariposa County, as a customer service manager, and running his own small business. Hal is active in the local, regional, and state levels advocating for the houseless community members of Mariposa County and has a passion for helping those without a voice. Hal and his family have lived in Mariposa County for over 22 years, spending his free time restoring old cars and landscaping.

Preferring to use the term houselessness, Nolen will address the current state of affairs in Mariposa County as well as what the future looks like for houselessness. He hopes people will attend the meeting with lots of questions. He also wants to tell everyone how they can be good neighbors to help end this crisis.

The Mariposa Democratic Club meets the second Saturday of every month and almost always has a quest speaker. Until the Covid situation improves they will continue to meet via Zoom. Please visit their website at www.MariposaDemocraticClub.org and watch for their booth at the Mariposa Fair.
