August 15, 2021 - The Madera County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) reports on Saturday around 4:00 A.M., MCSO Corporal Roth and Deputy Pursell were conducting routine patrol in the area of Road 426 and Oak Ridge Drive in Oakhurst when they observed an older model Chevrolet Blazer with various equipment violations.
Deputies attempted a vehicle stop, but the vehicle failed to yield to the sheriffs vehicle for almost two miles. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed unspent .223 ammunition, an assault rifle optic, methamphetamine, syringes, and prescription medication not prescribed to him.
Jacob Smith,44, of Oakhurst was arrested and booked for felony prohibited person in possession of ammunition, and multiple misdemeanor charges including failure to yield to a peace officer, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.
