MCSO fire restrictions

August 28, 2021 - Madera County Sheriff’s Office Works daily to remind both residents and visitors to be Fire Safe.

Happy Saturday Madera County!! As we kick off the weekend, MCSO would like to remind those recreating in our mountain areas an overview of the Fire Restriction Guidelines outlined by USFS & Madera County:

1.  Campfires are permitted in designated campgrounds (Bass Lake area campgrounds, Gray's Mtn., Sequel campground and Upper Chiquito.)

2. Campfires are prohibited in all areas in the USFS area that are considered dispersed camping or closed campgrounds (even in a rock fire ring, they are still prohibited.)
   a. Propane BBQ's, grills and firepits are permitted.

3. Open flames are prohibited on the Bass Lake Shore line (below the high-water line to the water.)

4. Per CALFIRE, there are no fire restrictions on private property at this time (i.e., warming fires are permitted.)

We take fire safety seriously. As always, our goal is for everyone to have fun and enjoy our beautiful surroundings while being safe. Let’s all do our part to protect our community.

To make a report or request a deputy, please contact our Communications Center at: (559) 675-7770.
