August 30, 2021 - 27-year-old Bessie Walker of Auberry has been identified as the woman found deceased on a piece of private property along the 37000 block of Auberry Mission Road.
On the night of August 21st, family and friends of Walker’s who had formed a search party, contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. They said they had found a body in a rural area that appeared to match that of Bessie Walker. Deputies arrived and located the deceased person. Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit also responded to collect evidence.
On Monday, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy on Walker. A cause of death is undetermined at this time. This remains an ongoing investigation.
On August 8th, the Sheriff’s Office took a missing person report regarding Bessie Walker. Initial information obtained was that she was last seen on Wednesday, August 4th near Mono Wind Casino in Auberry wearing a pink dress and sandals. Several detectives were assigned to the case and hundreds of hours were spent searching for Walker. During this time, our office received information of approximately 12 locations where Walker might be. Deputies searched all of those locations, but were never able to find her.
