California Statewide Fire Summary for September 12, 2021 

September 12, 2021 - More than 13,300 firefighters continue to work towards containment on now 16 major wildfires burning across California. Yesterday, firefighters also responded to 36 new wildfires, with Cal Fire

new becoming large wildfires including the Route Fire in Los Angeles County and the Paradise Fire in the Sequoia-Kings National Park. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 7,377 wildfires, which have burned more than 2.2 million acres. In comparison, during this same time last year, there were 8,075 fires, which burned more than 3.2 million acres in California.

In Northern California, dry conditions with temperatures slightly above normal remain today. The air mass will begin to gradually dry out today through Monday with widely varying minimum humidity. A slight uptick in winds today and tonight favoring the coastal range. Weak north to northeast winds will push in the upper Sacramento Valley late tonight but a more noticeable one for the Sacramento Valley and foothills is expected tomorrow. In Southern California, temperatures will be slightly above normal through the middle of next week. Minimum humidity will drop into the single digits and teens away from the coastal areas today through the middle of next week.
