September 14, 2021 - Merced – On September 13, 2021, at approximately 7:33 P.M., Merced PD officers responded to Mountain Mike’s Pizza at 1348 W. Olive Avenue in Merced for a shooting inside the establishment. Officers arrived on scene and found three gunshot victims. The three gunshot victims were transported to regional trauma centers. One of the victims was a 38-year-old male who later succumbed his injuries. The identity of the deceased is pending notification to the next of kin.

Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. It was determined that an altercation occurred inside the establishment, between two groups of people. The suspect, Adrian Diego Calderon (21) of Merced was detained at the scene by one of the victims. Calderon fired numerous rounds inside of the establishment after the fight broke out. Calderon was treated for injuries he received during the incident. Calderon was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail for a single count of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

No uninvolved bystanders were injured as a result of this incident. Detectives are aware that several witnesses left the scene prior to the arrival of responding officers. Detectives would like to obtain a statement from anyone who was present when the shooting occurred.
