September 23, 2021 - More than 9,300 firefighters continue to work on containing California’s 10 major wildfires and three extended attack wildfires. Crews across the state also responded to and quickly contained 23 new wildfires yesterday. In 2021, Cal Firethere have been 7,618 wildfires that have burned more than 2.3 million acres in California. The Caldor Fire is now the 14th largest fire in California history.

Breezy north-northeast winds in the Sacramento Valley and west slopes of Cascade-Sierra Ranges through tonight. Above normal temperatures through Saturday in Northern California. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will move across Southern California, mainly over the mountains and deserts east and south of Interstate 15, this afternoon through Saturday night. Temperatures will be near to a little above normal through Saturday.
