September 28, 2021 - There are currently more than 10,000 firefighters on the frontlines of 11 major wildfires burning across the Cal Firestate. Yesterday, CAL FIRE also responded to 15 new initial attack wildfires, all of which were quickly contained. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 7,728 wildfires that have burned more than 2.4 million acres in California.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 am today through 8 pm this evening for portions of the Sacramento and Northern San Joaquin valleys and the Delta for gusty north to northeast winds. In the northern part of the state, an approaching upper level trough will bring significant cooling today. A warming and drying trend will return for the second half of the week with locally breezy north to northeast winds developing nights and mornings. In the southern part of the state, a Pacific trough will be over the West Coast through Tuesday, keeping temperatures well below normal. Westerly winds of 20 – 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph will surface across the wind prone mountain and desert areas through Tuesday evening. There will be north winds of 20 – 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph over Santa Barbara County and the Grapevine Tuesday night.

Are you and your family prepared for an emergency? You can prepare now not only for a wildfire, but any disaster that may strike. Make sure you and your family are ready for anything. To learn more, visit www.ReadyForWildfire.org
