September 29, 2021 - Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno) will hold a virtual forum on public safety via Facebook live on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. A panel of public safety leaders will join Senator Borgeas to discuss how California’s policies have positively and negatively impacted public safety.
The panel includes:
- Margaret Mims, Fresno County Sheriff
- Paco Balderrama, City of Fresno Police Chief
- Steve Wright, Fresno County Assistant District Attorney
- Damon Kurtz, Vice President of the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC)
“Public safety is one of the most pressing issues not only in the Eighth Senate District, but the entire state,” said Senator Borgeas. “We must continue the conversation with our public safety leaders to examine what’s working – and what’s not working. Policies, such as Propositions 47 and 57, have clearly contributed to spikes in crime over the last few years. We also need to bring solutions to the table to reverse these trends.”
Recent data released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation shows that California’s spike in homicides is part of a nationwide spike.
The event can be viewed on Senator Borgeas’ Facebook Page beginning at 5:30 pm on Thursday, September 30, 2021.
