September 29, 2021 - There are currently more than 10,100 firefighters on the frontlines of 11 major wildfires burning across the state. Yesterday, CAL FIRE also responded to 10 new initial Cal Fireattack wildfires, all of which were quickly contained. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 7,738 wildfires that have burned more than 2.4 million acres in California.

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for the North Bay Mountains from Wednesday morning through Thursday evening due to gusty winds and low humidity. Wind gusts up to 35 mph. Dry conditions for the next seven days with a warming trend and becoming above normal, area-wide, by the weekend. A ridge of high pressure will build into Southern California from the Pacific Ocean today and then be directly overhead Thursday through this weekend. Westerly winds of 20 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph will continue to surface across the mountain ridges and desert passes through this evening. Temperatures will warm around 10 degrees away from the coastal areas and deserts through Thursday and then there will be little change in temperatures through the weekend.

California remains dry and ripe for wildfires. Have you signed up for emergency alerts in case a fire near your home requires you to evacuate? If not, be sure to sign up for the alerts in your county here to make sure you are prepared, and to learn more about other ways to be ready for any emergency, visit www.ReadyForWildfire.org
