MCSO Felony Arrest

September 30, 2021 - On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, shortly after 2:30 A.M., the Madera County Sheriff’s Communications Center received an emergency call for an in-progress burglary in the 13000 block of Road 29 1/4 in Madera.

MCSO Sergeant Pace and Deputy Grever responded to the location. When they arrived on scene, they learned the homeowner had chased the suspect down the street and retreated when the male subject fired a shot at him. Deputies conducted a search of the area and located the suspect, who was seen discarding a firearm while fleeing on foot. Sergeant Pace ultimately took the suspect, 24-year-old Madera resident Arthur Rubalcaba, into custody and recovered the discarded firearm.

Rubalcaba was transported and booked in at the Madera County Jail on multiple felony charges including attempted murder, 1st degree burglary, and felon in possession of a firearm, and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and probation violation.

Sheriff Tyson Pogue remarks, “I commend Sergeant Pace and Deputy Grever on their swift response and thorough search to locate this suspect. We are grateful for the positive outcome of this call and that the homeowner was not harmed during this incident.”
