October 1, 2021 - More than 9,500 firefighters remain on the frontlines of California’s 11 major wildfires, with good progress being made on containment of the fires. Yesterday, firefighters also Cal Fireresponded to and quickly contained 11 new initial attack wildfires in California. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 7,769 wildfires that have burned more than 2.4 million acres in California.

In Northern California, a dry and warming trend continues with above normal temperatures this weekend through Monday. Variable and generally light wind flow today and this weekend with some localized northeast breezes in the highest ridges of the northwest corner through tonight. In the southern part of the state, a high pressure will sit over California through Monday. A weak area of low pressure from the west will move inland over Southern California Tuesday. Temperatures will be 5 – 10 degrees above normal through Monday. Winds will be light across the entire region through the middle of next week.
