October 4, 2021 - More than 8,600 firefighters remain on the frontlines of California’s 10 major wildfires, with good progress being made on containment of the fires. Over the weekend, Cal Firefirefighters responded to and quickly contained 66 new initial attack wildfires. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 7,835 wildfires that have burned more than 2.47 million acres in California.

Dry and breezy conditions across the Cascade and Sierra Crest eastward Monday through Wednesday. A gradual cooling trend will begin today then accelerate Tuesday and Wednesday. Minimum relative humidity will remain in the upper single digits to low teens. A weak area of low pressure will approach California from the southwest today and move inland over Southern California Tuesday morning. Temperatures will cool and humidity will increase Monday through the end of this week.
