October 8, 2021 - Merced – Merced Police officers arrested Julian Vitoria (24) for two counts of attempted homicide.

MPD attempt homicideAt 12:37 P.M., Officers responded to the 3200 block of Parsons Ave. for a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident.

Officers secured video surveillance footage from Chenowith School which aided officers in the search for the vehicle and suspect. After reviewing the footage, traffic officers determined the collision was intentional.

Deputies from the Merced County Sheriff’s Office located the involved vehicle through a countywide broadcast which included a description of the vehicle. The driver, Julian Vitoria, was detained and turned over to Merced PD detectives.

At this time, the motive for the assault is not certain. The victims received treatment for moderate to serious injuries.

Vitoria was arrested for attempted homicide and booked into custody at the Merced County Jail.
