October 15, 2021 - Merced – Merced PD Gang unit arrests gang member in possession of several firearms and an armored vest. On October 14th at approximately 9:45 A.M. the Merced Police Departments Gang Violence Suppression Unit served a search warrant in the 1000 block of Buena Vista Drive. Gang Officer Saldivar followed up on information regarding the resident Vincent Thomas (31), a known gang member possessing illegal firearms. A search of the residence revealed an AR-15 style rifle, several handguns, ammunition, narcotics, and a bullet proof vest. Thomas was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, ammunition and an armored vest.
