October 16, 2021 - STOCKTON – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to temporarily close State Route 4/Ebbetts Pass, Route 89/Montior Pass and Route 108/Sonora Pass due to inclement weather expected to arrive in the area this weekend.

To ensure the safety of motorists, Route 108/Sonora Pass is scheduled to close temporarily at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Ebbetts and Monitor passes are scheduled to close at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2021.

There is no ETO.

Route 108/Sonora Pass would be closed from 26 miles east of Strawberry to 5 miles west of U.S. 395 in Tuolumne and Mono counties.

In Alpine County, Route 89/Monitor Pass would be closed at the Route 4/89 closure gate, and Route 4/Ebbetts Pass also would be closed at the Route 4/89 junction (closure gate #5).

Maintenance crews will monitor the weather forecast before conducting any closures. For updates, please visit quickmap.ca,gov for highway conditions, chain control locations, and closure details.

This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or materials and construction related issues.
